Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026 · dsanotes.com
The short version
DSANotes does not require an account to access any content. We collect your email only if you choose to subscribe to updates. We do not sell your data to anyone, ever. Free forever.
1. Introduction
DSANotes ("we," "us," or "our") operates dsanotes.com, a free educational platform teaching Data Structures and Algorithms. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data — wherever you are in the world.
By using DSANotes, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the site.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in two ways — automatically when you browse, and directly when you choose to provide it.
Automatically collected (anonymous)
- Pages viewed and time spent on each page
- Browser type, version, and operating system
- Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)
- IP address (anonymized)
- Referring website or search query
- General geographic region (country or city level)
- Language preference
Directly provided by you
- Email address — if you subscribe to our newsletter
- Name, email, and message — if you contact us
Note
All direct collection is entirely voluntary. You can read every article and use every visualizer on DSANotes without providing any personal information whatsoever.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect solely to:
- Operate and improve the DSANotes website and its content
- Send you newsletter updates about new articles and visualizers (only if you subscribed)
- Respond to your messages or feedback
- Understand how our content is being used so we can improve it
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your information to third parties. We use Google AdSense to display ads on the site; Google may use your data to personalize ads as described in their privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy).
4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:
- Legitimate interests — to operate and improve our website (analytics, error monitoring)
- Consent — for newsletter subscriptions; you may withdraw consent at any time
- Legal obligation — where required by applicable law
5. Newsletter
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address to send you updates about new content on DSANotes. We use this email for no other purpose.
- We will never sell, rent, or share your email with any third party
- You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us at dsanotes123@gmail.com
- We will remove your email promptly upon request
6. Cookies & Advertising
DSANotes uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — to understand how our site is used, to improve your experience, and to show you relevant advertisements.
Types of cookies we use:
- Strictly necessary — required for the site to function; cannot be disabled
- Analytics — help us understand how visitors use the site (e.g. Google Analytics); these are anonymized
- Advertising — used by Google AdSense to serve relevant ads based on your interests and browsing behavior
You can control or disable non-essential cookies through your browser settings at any time. You can also opt out of Google Analytics tracking at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
DSANotes uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google AdSense may use cookies and web beacons to collect data about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services likely to be of interest to you. You can opt out of Google's personalized advertising at google.com/settings/ads.
7. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with DSANotes. We have enabled IP anonymization, meaning your full IP address is never stored. Data collected is used only to improve our content and site experience.
Google Analytics is governed by Google's Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy). You may opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
8. Data Retention
- Analytics data — retained for 14 months, then automatically deleted
- Newsletter emails — retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion
- Contact messages — retained for up to 12 months, then deleted
You may request deletion of your data at any time. See Section 11 for your rights.
9. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to anyone.
We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Google Analytics — website usage analytics (policies.google.com/privacy)
- Google AdSense — advertising (policies.google.com/privacy)
These services are bound by data processing agreements and handle your data in accordance with their own privacy policies and applicable law.
We may disclose your data if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request.
10. International Data Transfers
DSANotes is operated globally. If you are accessing the site from the EEA, UK, or other regions with data protection laws, please note that your data may be transferred to and processed in countries that may not have the same data protection laws as your country.
Where we transfer data internationally, we take appropriate safeguards — such as relying on Google's Standard Contractual Clauses — to ensure your data is protected.
